Set up your RateTell account and connect your store
Account Setup
Learn how to create your RateTell account and connect your e-commerce store.
Creating Your Account
- Visit RateTell
- Click "Sign Up" or "Start Free Trial"
- Choose your signup method:
- Email and password
- Sign in with Google
- Verify your email address (check inbox/spam)
- Complete your profile
Account Information
You'll need to provide:
- Full Name: Your name or business name
- Email: Primary contact email
- Store URL: Your e-commerce store domain
Connecting Your Store
Store Integration
RateTell connects to your store securely:
- Click "Connect Store" in the dashboard
- Enter your store domain
- Click "Connect"
- You'll be redirected to Shopify to authorize the app
- Review the requested permissions:
- Read and modify shipping rates
- Read products, variants, and collections
- Read customer and order information
- Click "Install App"
- You'll be redirected to Shopify's billing confirmation page to approve your 14-day free trial
- After approval, you'll return to RateTell's onboarding
What to Expect After Connecting
Once you approve the trial, here's what happens automatically:
- ✅ Live DDP rates will appear at checkout showing duties, taxes, and shipping — once you add RateTell to your shipping zones (see next section)
- ✅ Your products sync for accurate duty calculations
- ✅ Your 14-day free trial starts — no monthly fee until the trial ends
- ✅ Per-order DDP fees apply to international orders during the trial
No separate invoices or payment methods needed. Everything is billed through Shopify.
Add RateTell to Your Shipping Zones
After connecting, you need to add RateTell to your Shopify shipping zones for live rates to appear at checkout:
- Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Shipping and delivery
- Under Shipping zones, click Manage on the zone where you want DDP rates (e.g., International)
- Click Add rate and select Use carrier or app to calculate rates
- Choose RateTell from the dropdown
- Save the zone
Repeat for each shipping zone where you want landed cost displayed at checkout. Once added, customers in that zone will see the full price — duties, taxes, and shipping — before they buy.
Verifying Connection
Check that your store is connected:
- Go to Settings > Store Health
- Your store should show "Connected" status
- View connection details:
- Store name and URL
- Connection date
- Sync status
Billing Information
RateTell uses a subscription-based model:
Trial Period
- Duration: 14 days
- Full Access: All features included
- No monthly subscription fee during trial
- Per-order DDP fees apply during the trial period (charged per international order with DDP enabled)
- Cancel Anytime: No commitments
After Trial
When your trial ends, you'll choose a plan through Shopify Billing to continue using RateTell. Plans are billed through Shopify directly — no separate invoices or payment methods needed.
Security Settings
Two-Factor Authentication (Recommended): Enable in Settings for added protection.
Multiple Stores
Connect multiple stores to one account (Settings > Stores > Add New Store). Each store has independent shipping zones, carrier accounts, and classifications.

- Connect carrier accounts (for live rates)

Troubleshooting
Store Connection Failed: Verify store domain is correct, try incognito/private browser, or check for popup-blocking extensions.
Email Verification Not Received: Check spam folder, wait 5 minutes, or request a new verification email.
